Aymar Ccopacatty has a BFA in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design. Ccopacatty is of indigenous Aymara heritage. He learned traditional Andean weaving techniques from his family in Peru. Over the years he has volunteered for native weaving organizations, begun a movement of knitting with recycled plastic bags, and presented on Andean material culture interpretation.
